News Central for the Kentucky-Tennessee District Kiwanis

Start a K-Kids Club in Your Community!

It is my pleasure to serve you, and the K-T District, as the new Kiwanis Kids (K-Kids) District Administrator for the 2009-10 Kiwanis year. I look forward to meeting many of you just to say thanks for your past efforts and support of K-Kids, as well as the Bring Up Grades (BUG) and Terrific Kids programs.

I want to encourage every club in the district to consider sponsoring a K-Kids club in your community. As we strive to serve the children of the world, what better way is there to help accomplish this mission than by serving the children right in our community through K-Kids? Not only will we provide hundreds of children the opportunity to serve their schools and community, we help them develop the leadership skills necessary to become our future leaders and Kiwanians.

As I attend K-Kids meetings in my community, I am constantly amazed at the energy, spirit and creativity of these young men and women. These youngsters can accomplish great things if we provide them an opportunity and lend them a helping hand. They are truly inspiring.

If your club sponsors one or numerous K-Kids clubs, I say thank you! If not, I hope that you will consider starting a club at an elementary school near you. Kiwanis International provides step-by-step resources and materials that make the process easy.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact me at tfwinfield@newwavecomm.net or at 270-839-7981 and I will help! For more information about K-Kids, BUG and Terrific Kids, please visit the K-Kids website at www.kkids.org.

I hope you have a successful 2009-2010 Kiwanis year!
